Gala necklaceThe second annual College of Arts and Letters New Year’s Eve Gala will be held on Dec. 31 at 7 p.m. in the Stephens Performing Arts Center. The event is held to raise student scholarships in the performing and visual arts.

“I wanted to show unwavering support for the New Year’s Eve Gala and the College of Arts and Letters,” Vailas said. “This is one of the most unique fundraisers, and it is nice to see faculty, staff and students coming together for student scholarships.”

Vailas said the necklace was made as a costume piece but captures the attention and spirit of a masquerade.

“I have been designing jewelry for a number of years,” Vailas said. “I wanted to make the most dramatic and outrageous necklace I could for the masquerade ball.”
