Idaho State University Jazz I Big Band, Jeff Jarvis join to present Jazz Fest Concert on Feb. 2

Jeff Jarvis, the jazz trumpeter and educator, will be guest soloist with the Idaho State University Jazz I Big Band in the Jazz Fest concert at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 2 at the Stephens Performing Art Center in the Jensen Grand Concert Hall.
Jarvis is an experienced jazz and commercial trumpeter, having performed with jazz notables as Dizzy Gillespie, Louie Bellson, Joe Williams, Benny Golson, Jon Hendricks, Jimmy Heath, Joe Lovano, Henry Mancini, Slide Hampton, Kevin Mahogany, Grady Tate, Eddie Daniels, Rob McConnell, and Doc Severinsen. He is also an important composer of jazz big band music and is part owner of Kendor Music, Inc., the first educational music publisher to provide jazz charts written especially for students.
Along with t ISU Jazz I Big Band, Jarvis will present a wide selection of musically and historically important jazz compositions including "Moten Swing" as played by the Count Basie band, Horace Silver's "The Jody Grind," a beautiful ballad arrangement of "When I Fall in Love," and Jarvis' own up-tempo contemporary composition "Quasi Modal."
Ticket prices are $8 for adults, $6 for ISU faculty and staff, $4 for pre-college students and free to ISU students. The Jazz Fest daytime events are free and open to the public.
