Idaho science and math teachers partner with Idaho State University for annual conference Oct. 4-5

The Idaho Science Teachers Association (ISTA), the Idaho Council of Teachers of Math (ICTM), and the Idaho Science, Math, and Technology Coalition (ISMTC), in partnership with Idaho State University, are holding their 2013 statewide annual fall conference at Century High School Oct. 4-5.

This conference is for all kindergarten through 12th grade and higher education teachers in Idaho.  The theme this year is, "Finding a Smarter Balance with Common Core Standards and STEM." 

The Idaho State Department of Education is a major supporter of this conference with sessions on Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) and assessments.  The meeting will feature keynote speakers, sessions, and exhibitors for every grade level.  There will be a Friday night laser-light show and field trips on Saturday presented by ISU faculty and staff from the departments of Physics and Geosciences. ISU will be offering professional development credit to participants. 

"Teachers will walk away with resources, ideas, strategies, goodies for the classroom, and renewed motivation for teaching our students.  It is also a great way to collaborate with teachers from other school districts and find out what is going on in their districts," said Earla Durfee, the ISTA Conference Coordinator.
