Mortar Board to host 2012 Inclusion Ball at Idaho State University April 20
April 13, 2012
The Idaho State University Silver Tassel Chapter of Mortar Board will host the 2012 Inclusion Ball Friday, April 20, from 6 to 9 p.m.
The Inclusion Ball is a prom-like event especially for people with intellectual disabilities. This event is open to all community members high school age and older. This year's theme is "Under the Stars." The colors are midnight blue and silver, and dress is formal to dressy casual. Those under 18 are asked to have a parent or guardian sign them in to the ball.
This will be the second year that Mortar Board has held the event, and organizers hope to make it an annual affair. Mortar Board members also hope that the Inclusion Ball will help foster interaction between people with intellectual disabilities and the general community while bringing them together for a night of fun and dancing.
Mortar Board is a national honor society that recognizes college-level seniors for exemplary leadership, scholarship and service. ISU Mortar Board President Julianne Grooms said that to her, the Silver Tassel Chapter of Mortar Board is "[essentially] a group of people that have gotten together to better ISU and the community."
The ISU chapter of Mortar Board is currently comprised of 40 students, and each year the organization seeks out high-achieving students to become new members.
