Idaho State University's Anderson Gender Resource Center will host its ninth annual Art of Gender in Everyday Life conference March 7-9 in the Pond Student Union Building's Salmon River Suite.

The conference is being held in honor of Women's History Month. Wednesday, March 7, the conference will begin at 7 p.m. with a poetry reading by Utah poet V. Wetlaufer.

The conference will include creative writing workshops, various presentations and a brown bag lunch, among other events. In addition, the ISU Transition art gallery will display "Mama Said: The Art and Artifacts of Wise Women" throughout the month of March. A presentation by keynote speaker Stephanie Coontz will conclude the conference Friday, March 9, at 7 p.m. on the history of marriage. All events are free and open to the public as well as the ISU community.

The entire conference focuses on the ideas of gender roles and stereotypes and aims to move towards awareness of these roles with the possibility of breaking them down in everyday life.

Contact Anderson Gender Resource Center Director Rebecca Morrow with any questions at 282-2805, or visit www.isu.edu/andersoncenter for a more detailed schedule.
