Guest artist Burn-Crain to present free family dance event ‘Earth Day – A Moving Celebration’ April 18 at Idaho State University

Guest artist Holly Burn-Crain, also known as "the Dancing Soulsmith," will present a free family event, "Earth Day – A Moving Celebration of Connection," from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 18 in the Idaho State University Rogers Black Box Theater of the Stephens Performing Arts Center.

Reviving the community dance of old and to celebrate Earth Day, the event will be a guided dance circle presenting 8-10 simple step dances from different cultures presented with a "no mistakes, only variations" attitude. No previous experience or partners are necessary.

The event is sponsored by the ISU Cultural Affairs Council and the ISU Department of Theater and Dance in collaboration with ISU College of Pharmacy. 

Burn-Crain has provided services in private practice, clinical settings and a wide variety of community settings. Combining over 20 years of sacred circle dance study and more than 300 dances from around the world, Holly uses the circle as the foundation symbolizing unity and promoting community building.

"Through dancing together we are reminded of our power and place in the universe, and we remember once again to attune, imitate, honor and enjoy the rhythms, cycles and the awe-inspiring process of nature," Holly said.
