Idaho State University Veterans’ Sanctuary to honor scholarship recipients Jan. 31
January 21, 2011
The Veterans' Sanctuary Program at Idaho State University will honor the 2011 winners of the Sgt. Blake Stephens Scholarship during a ceremony Monday, Jan. 31, at 1 p.m. in the Rendezvous Complex, Suites B and C.
Refreshments will be provided.
This year's recipients, ISU student veterans Kale Bergeson and Jason Taylor, will each receive $900. These veterans were selected for their military service, and other reasons, such as grade point average and dedication to their fellow student veterans.
The Sanctuary will also honor Hooligans Bar for founding the scholarship in the name of Sgt. Blake Stephens, a Pocatello solider killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq in 2007. This year, the Sanctuary adopted the scholarship as the program’s official scholarship to increase donations. This year’s awards are the result of Hooligans’ annual Sgt. Blake Stephens foosball tournament and from a raffle.
