GED Graduation set at Idaho State University June 4

More than 350 students who completed the General Educational Development (GED®) test between May 29, 2009, and June 3 will be recognized during graduation ceremonies scheduled for June 4 at the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center on the Idaho State University campus. The ceremony will begin at 7 p.m.

Every year several students are selected to tell the story behind their pursuit of the GED and talk about the future.  Jeanette Randa Erickson, Kristin Worzel, Sherman “Sonny” Shrader, and Shauna Justesen will share their stories and thoughts on receiving the GED. Mayor Brian Blad will provide the keynote address and members of the Shoshone Bannock Tribe will perform the “Ghost Canyon” honor song. Katie Patrick, owner of Pom Poso Place, The Inn Place for Pets will receive the Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award.

Thirty-three graduates will receive the honors recognition for receiving a score of 600-649 and ten will receive high honors recognition for having a score of 650 or above. The individual who earns the highest score is eligible to earn the General Education Department scholarship.

Graduates have completed their GED through the ISU Adult Success Center; ISU outreach centers in American Falls, Blackfoot, Malad, Montpelier, Preston, and Soda Springs; the Pocatello Women’s Correctional Center; SEICAA; Fort Hall; High School Equivalency Program (HEP); MK Place; and the Intensive Supervision Program.
