September 3, 2010
The Idaho State University Pond Student Union Transition Gallery will present “A Collection of Paintings by Richard Bingham” Sept. 7-29 and hold an opening reception for the exhibit on Tuesday, Sept. 7, from 7 to 9 p.m. Richard Paul Bingham, born 1948, was raised in Southeast Idaho and attended area schools. He began painting in oils at the age of twelve under the tutelage of his father, a noted local artist, and through the 1960s regularly accompanied him to workshops and instruction given by Robert Brackman, Hayward Veal, Frederick Taubes and others.
After high school he attended Idaho State University, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from that institution in 1970.
Leaving graduate studies in 1972, he established a commercial art/graphics studio, and to the present, designs and produces illustrations, signs, commercial layouts and paintings on commission.
He has exhibited in Idaho at Eagle Rock Art Museum, Idaho State University and the J. Crist Gallery, as well as outside Idaho in Savannah, Ga., New York City and the Hague, Netherlands.
The Transition Gallery is located on the first floor of the Pond Student Union.
