Marcus Eaton Trio to perform Jan. 24 at Stephens Center
January 21, 2009
The Marcus Eaton Trio will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Idaho State University Joseph C. and Cheryl H. Jensen Grand Concert Hall in the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center.
Tickets are $15 for the lower level and $10 for the upper level and are available at the Stephens Center Box Office 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays or by calling (208) 282-3595 at the same hours; they can be purchased online at www.isu.edu/tickets; or at Budget Tapes and Records in Pocatello.
The Marcus Eaton Trio has recently played shows with Dave Matthews Band, Blues Traveler, Martin Sexton and toured the East Coast with TR3. The band continues to excite audiences as they introduce fans to their unique brand of music. The trio consists of Kevin Rogers on drums, James Monsons on bass and Marcus Eaton as songwriter, guitar player and vocalist.
Marcus Eaton has received positive reviews by a number of music critiques, including this prognosis by Adam Moore of Premier Guitar Magazine: “Marcus Eaton plays the acoustic, but not like you might expect. He rapidly shifts between frantic fingerpicking and strumming, clean acoustic sounds and swirling, looped effects. His music fits firmly in the post-modern musical relativism that has become the norm among a new generation of musicians – viewing genre distinctions not as absolutes but as starting points.”
