The Idaho State University Summer Band will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, in the Joseph C. and Cheryl H. Jensen Grand Concert Hall in the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center.

The Summer Band is directed by Patrick Brooks, ISU director of bands. Guest conductors appearing with this year’s Summer Band are David Beckstead, director of bands at Pocatello High School, and ISU music students Mark Petty, Drew Sutherland and Robert Hanchey.

According to Brooks, the Summer Band was formed six years ago to give ISU student musicians, and area high school students and community instrumentalists an ensemble in which to sharpen their skills and enjoy making music. This summer’s ensemble numbers about 50 and is comprised of an even mixture of students and community members.

The band will perform a wide selection of music, with something for everyone to enjoy. Music to be preformed at the concert will include the march "Nobles of the Mystic Shrine" by John Phillip Sousa, the American hymn-based composition "Angel Band" by Walter Hartley, and "Amazing Grace" arranged for band by Frank Ticheli, and many others.

Admission is free and open to the public.
