Idaho State University Alumni Association announces new board members

The Idaho State University Alumni Association has announced the election of eight new board members who will begin their terms this fall.

The new board members are Ronald R. Bolinger, American Falls; N. JoAn Falter Kisling Dilweg, Pocatello; Lynn John Romrell, Alachua, Fla.; Larry W. Satterwhite, Boise; Rick Semba, Boise; Anntara Smith, Boise; B. Lynn Winmill, Pocatello; Lincoln Charles Yamashita, Waimanalo, Hawaii.

“We deeply appreciate the time and talents these outstanding men and women provide to the growth and development of Idaho State University,” said ISU Vice President for Advancement Kent Tingey. “The Alumni Board continues to play a strong role in the success of ISU.”

"While it is always difficult to say goodbye to the dedicated board members who have supported the institution so well and whose terms have expired, the Alumni Relations Office staff and the remaining board members look forward to working with these new board members who are so willing to give back to their alma mater," said Bill Kobus, executive director of ISU Alumni Relations.

Bolinger graduated in the class of 1970 with a bachelor’s degree in social science, and then again with a master’s degree in education in 1972. He earned an educational specialist degree (EDS) from ISU in 1978. He went on to receive a doctorate in education from Montana State University in 1988. He is currently the superintendent of the American Falls School District.

Dilweg graduated in the class of 1965 with a bachelor’s degree in speech and drama, and then again with a master’s degree in secondary education in 1975. She went on to receive a doctorate in theatre and cinematic arts in 1981. She recently retired from her career in secondary education in Pocatello.

Romrell graduated in the ISU class of 1967 with a bachelor’s degree in zoology. He then went on to receive a doctorate in zoology from Utah State University in 1971, and was a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School from 1971-73. He is currently the associate dean for Curriculum Development and Evaluation at the Florida State University School of Medicine and a professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences.

Satterwhite graduated in the class of 1970 with a bachelor’s degree in history and political science. He then went on to receive a master’s degree in education from Sul Ross State University in 1975, and pursued a doctoral degree in vocational guidance and leadership development from the University of Idaho. He retired in June 2009 from Real Networks, a high-tech company out of Seattle, as an independent contractor in charge of recruiting programs and immigration services. He retired from the Army in 1993 as a lieutenant colonel and worked in a variety of jobs prior to joining Real Networks.

Semba graduated in the class of 1975 with a bachelor’s degree in biology, and then again with a master’s degree in zoology and physiology in 1980. He is currently retired.

Smith graduated in the class of 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in physician assistant studies. She is currently working as physician assistant in Boise.

Winmill graduated in the class of 1974 with a bachelor’s degree in American studies. He then went on to receive a Juris Doctorate from Harvard Law School in 1977. He taught at ISU as an adjunct faculty from 1991-1995. He is currently the Chief District Judge for the United States District Court for the District of Idaho.

Yamashita graduated from ISU with a bachelor’s degree in health/physical education and art education in 1966. He earned a master’s of education in health/physical education from the University of Hawaii in December 1971. He is a former Big Sky champion swimmer and was elected to the Idaho State University Sports Hall of Fame in spring 2009. A retired educator who taught school and coached swimming, Yamashita earned a Bronze Star as a Vietnam Veteran and was a captain in the U.S. Army. He also was a member of the Hawaii Army National Guard, retiring as a lieutenant colonel in February 2000.
