Idaho State Bengal Dancers take second at national dance competition

The Idaho State University Bengal Dancers recently placed second in the Dance Competition at the Universal Dance Association Collegiate Nationals held in Orlando, Fla., and their performance will be on national television Feb. 22 and March 19. The Bengal Dancers competed in both the Division I Dance and Division I Hip Hop categories, placing sixth in the latter competition. The team’s showing improved on its performance last year when it placed third in Dance and 10th in Hip Hop.
The top three finishers in Division I Dance will air on ESPN2 on Sunday, Feb. 22, at 12:30 p.m. and again on Thursday, March 19, at 1 p.m. You can watch a video segment and see photos of the team’s performances at www.varsity.com.
More than 3,000 of the country’s top college cheerleaders, dancers and mascots attended this year's event, supported by more thanr 6,000 family members and friends. The Bengal Dancers attended with other programs from 43 states and 152 universities and colleges.
Tryouts for the 2009-10 Bengal Dancers are set for Friday, April 17, from 6 to 10 p.m. and Saturday, April 18,, from noon to 6 p.m.. For a tryout brochure contact head coach Hilary Johnson at 282-4547 or hofmhila@isu.edu.
