Are you trying to land your first job in college sports management or work your way up to university athletic director? Need some help navigating your career path? Idaho State University-Meridian athletic administration assistant professor Howard Gauthier, Ph.D., has written a book designed to do just that.

Titled “Getting Hired in College Sports,” the book contains a step-by-step process to assist students, sports managers, coaches and administrators in their job search. Howard GauthierGauthier, who has more than 25 years of experience in athletic administration and coaching at the college and university level, said the book is a resource for people who want to enter and advance within the college sports industry.

“This book helps to provide them with a step-by-step process for career development,” said Gauthier, a former athletic director at California State University at Monterey Bay, Idaho State University and Southwest Minnesota State University.

In 264 pages, he shares stories and case studies, illustrating strategic methods on how to conduct a successful job search—from finding jobs and developing a personal brand to creating an effective resume, preparing for interview questions and properly following up after an interview.

“Getting Hired in College Sports,” published by Sports Leadership Publishing Company,” is available online at www.sportsleadershippublishing.com and Amazon.com for $29.95.

In addition to holding basketball coaching positions at Southern Illinois University, Roanoke College and Eastern Oregon University, Gauthier has served on various Big Sky Conference and NCAA committees.
