ISU faculty members publish textbook on health care administration

Idaho State University professors Leigh Cellucci and Carla Wiggins authored the textbook “Essential Techniques for Healthcare Managers,” which is now in print through Healthcare Administration Press, the publishing branch of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

The book uses realistic scenarios, cases, and exercises to bring essential management concepts to life. The book covers diverse topics such as handling management responsibilities, making ethical decisions, resolving conflicts, defending a budget, and monitoring organizational performance. Also included are an overview of health law and a discussion of diversity issues to prepare students to work in today’s healthcare environment.

Cellucci is an active member of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA), where she serves on the Undergraduate Review Committee. She received her Ph.D. in 1989 from the University of Virginia and her M.B.A. from Idaho State University in 2002. She has taught at Idaho State University since 1999.

Wiggins is an Academic Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), and an active member of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA) where she serves on the Board of Directors and Undergraduate Review Committees. She received her Ph.D. in 1994 from the University of Minnesota, and is the acting Chair of the Department of Healthcare Administration at ISU, as well as the Acting Director of the Center for Executive Studies.
