Women’s History Month keynote speech set March 6

The Idaho State University Janet C. Anderson Gender Resource Center is pleased to announce the Women’s History Month keynote speaker Dr. Tania Modleski will deliver the “No More Tears: On the Persistence of Melodrama in Representing Women’s Lives" at 7 p.m. March 6 in the Pond Student Union Building Salmon River Suite.

The event is co-sponsored by the Idaho Humanities Council and the ISU Women’s History Month Committee.  

Join us for an interactive workshop on "Women's Voices in Film" led by Dr. Tania Modleski, a Florence R. Scott Professor of English and Professor of English at the University of Southern California.  Participants are encouraged to bring their favorite film clip examples of feminine voices for this participatory workshop. Dr. Modelski, a University of Southern California professor, is a premier feminist critic of media, this will be her first ever visit to Southeast Idaho.    

The speech is part of the Anderson Center’s fifth annual The Art of Gender in Everyday Life Conference which explores the various ways in which gender is crafted, celebrated, endured, deciphered, expressed or, in short, the art of how it is lived on a daily basis.  A complete schedule of conference events is available on the Anderson Center website at: http://www.isu.edu/andersoncenter/genderVsched.shtml
