Trans-Francophonie conference be held at ISU April 18-19

Idaho State University’s Department of Foreign Languages will host a conference entitled “Trans-Francophonie” on Friday, April 18, and Saturday, April 19, at 9:30 a.m. in the Pond Student Union Building Salmon River Room.

The conference, sponsored by the ISU Cultural Affairs Council, will include presentations by scholars from various cities across the United States. In addition, two authors from France will serve as guest speakers.

Ahmed Zitouni, a nationally acclaimed author and lecturer, was born in Saida, Algeria, in 1949 and has lived in France since 1973. In recent years, he has participated in events designed to build cultural awareness throughout the United States and France. Zitouni’s novels detail his experiences as an Arab immigrant living in France and focus on the lifelong effects of those experiences. Zitouni is scheduled as the guest speaker for Friday, April 18.

Minna Sif, author of the French novel “Mechamment Berbere,” will present on Saturday, April 19.
