‘Safety in Bear Country’ workshop to be held Feb. 15

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, in cooperation with the Idaho State University Outdoor Adventure Center, will offer a “Safety in Bear Country” workshop from 1 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, at ISU.
This free workshop open to the public will be held in the Pond Student Union Building North Fork Room.Wildlife biologists Carl Mitchell and Janissa Balcomb will present the workshop. Mitchell and Balcomb have more than 25 years of experience living and working in bear country, and extensive experience teaching “Safety in Bear Country” workshops.
The workshop provides information about bear behavior, identification, biology, ecology and conflicts between bears and humans. The life history of bears and the dynamics of encounters between bears and humans will also be discussed.
