The Idaho State University Janet C. Anderson Gender Resource Center is pleased to announce a screening of the 7th Annual National Film Festival in Southeast Idaho "LUNAFEST: Films By, For and About Women" on March 5-6 in Idaho Falls and March 7-8 in Pocatello.
The Idaho Falls screenings will be held at noon in the Multipurpose Room of the Bennion Student Union Building. Pocatello screening will be held at 7 p.m. in the Pond Student Union Building Bengal Theater. Tickets are free with a Bengal ID and $2 for members of the general public.
LUNAFEST, the fundraising film festival dedicated to promoting awareness about women's issues, highlighting women filmmakers, and bringing women together in their communities, is holding its premiere event at Idaho State University in Pocatello and Idaho Falls in March.
This unique film festival will highlight women as leaders in society, illustrated through nine films by women filmmakers. The films range from animated shorts to fictional drama, and cover topics such as women’s health, body image, spirituality, relationships, cultural diversity, and breaking barriers.
All proceeds from the LUNAFEST premiere will go to The Anderson Center and the Breast Cancer Fund. Thus far, LUNAFEST, which is sponsored by LUNA, the Whole Nutrition Bar for Women, has raised over $100,000 for Breast Cancer Fund and over $250,000 for other women’s nonprofits.
Women’s History Month has been an annual event in the ISU and Pocatello communities since 1986, providing an opportunity to celebrate the lives of women throughout history. A full calendar of events can be viewed on the Center’s Web site http://www.isu.edu/womenctr/.
