ISU to host National Economics Challenge on March 11

Idaho State University will host the 2008 National Economics Challenge on Tuesday, March 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the ISU Pond Student Union Building Wood River Room.Twelve teams, each consisting of three to four students, from high schools throughout Idaho will compete at the state competition; three teams from Meridian High School, two teams from Preston High School, one team from Oakley High School, three teams from Idaho Falls High School, one team from Highland High School and two teams from Century High School. Teams will compete in both written and “quiz bowl” examinations.
The Economics Challenge is the only national economic competition where high school students can demonstrate their economic literacy by competing with other students across the state. Thirty-five states compete at the state level and winners from each state will advance to the regional competition in April. Regional winners and their teachers will receive a $1,000 savings bond and will advance to the national challenge, which takes place in May in New York City. Winners and their teachers in the national challenge each receive a $3,000 savings bond.
