IMNH to host informational meeting on National Geographic map project for Idaho

National Geographic’s Center for Sustainable Destinations is partnering with the Idaho Division of Tourism Development along with the Montana and Wyoming tourism offices to create a super-sized Geotourism MapGuide showcasing the Greater Yellowstone region.

The MapGuide is a specialty map featuring the unique events and activities, historic landmarks, and cultural and natural attractions that best capture the character and diversity of our region. The attractions, sites, and events must be nominated to be considered for inclusion on the map. The Yellowstone Business Partnership is coordinating the nominations process on behalf of Idaho.

The Idaho Museum of Natural History and the Pioneer Country Travel Council are hosting a free public forum on Wednesday, June 4, at 7 p.m. in the museum’s Discovery Room. Kyle Babbitt with the Yellowstone Business Partnership will be on hand to present information about the project, answer questions and solicit nominations of locations to be included on the map. The museum will have extended hours that day and the public is invited to visit the IMNH before attending the meeting.<>

The Museum is located on the campus of Idaho State University at the intersection of 5th Avenue and Dillon Street in Building #12. The gallery is normally open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It will remain open until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4.
