July 29, 2008
Musicians Steve Eaton and Mike Sanders, with guest Phil Garonzik, will perform an outdoor concert at 8 p.m. Aug. 16 on the Idaho State University’s L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center’s Northwest Patio.
The Stephens Performing Arts Center is located on the ISU Pocatello campus.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Aug. 1. All tickets are $15 and are available by calling the Stephens Performing Arts Center Box Office at 282-3595. They can also be purchased online at www.isu.edu/tickets. Box Office hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event’s rain site is the Joseph C. and Cheryl H. Jensen Grand Concert Hall in the Stephens Performing Arts Center.
“This concert will offer a unique twist as the performance will be solar powered,” said Eaton. “All the equipment needed to produce the show will be powered by the sun. I am very excited about exploring alternative energy options.”
The concert’s setting is special, according to Eaton.
“Bring your low-back chairs and blankets and enjoy the panoramic view of the city and surrounding foothills while listening to the music we are known for,” Eaton said.
Eaton and Sanders will be joined by Phil Garonzik. Garonzik is an accomplished saxophone and flute player who played with Eaton in their former band Fat Chance.
Eaton and Sanders are mainstays of the Pocatello music scene. They played together frequently at the Sandpiper and other local music venues for 20 years.
“I got the idea of performing an outdoor concert in Pocatello, and I immediately thought of the Stephens Performing Arts Center. It is a gorgeous venue in a beautiful setting,” said Eaton.
Eaton and Sanders will be playing original songs, jazz, rock and roll and folk music.
“I am really looking forward to performing in Pocatello in front of family and friends,” noted Eaton.
