The Anderson Gender Resource Center is pleased to announce The Art of Gender in Everyday Life V,  a multidisciplinary conference to take place March 5-7 in the Pond Student Union Building on the Idaho State University campus. All conference papers will in some way explore the various ways in which gender is crafted, celebrated, endured, deciphered, expressed or, in short, the art of how it is lived on a daily basis.

The Art of Gender in Everyday Life V will showcase the work of scholars from across the nation who will gather in Pocatello to present their gender-related work. Conference sessions take place on Wednesday evening from 7 to 10 p.m. and all day on Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 6:15 p.m.  There will be concurrent sessions.  Sessions will cover a wide range of topics including the arts, literature, gender in academe, the performance of gender and more.

The full conference schedule is accessible at the Anderson Center website, www.isu.edu/andersoncenter.

Conference sessions are free and open to the public, but registration is required. Registration will be available on-site.

“We are excited to be hosting a great range of excellent papers again this year!  There is definitely something for everyone with discussions of such wide-ranging topics as women of color, the implications of gender in literature, and gender in dance and performance,” commented Anderson Center Director, Dr. Rebecca Morrow.  “This conference is always such a fun time because it is an opportunity to rethink gender, something that affects us all, in new ways and new contexts.”

Women’s History Month has been an annual event in the ISU and Pocatello communities since 1986, providing an opportunity to celebrate the lives of women throughout history.  A full calendar of events can be viewed on the Center’s website www.isu.edu/andersoncenter
