Idaho State University will host a women’s discussion panel on cultural diversity and appreciating differences in celebration of international Women’s Day on March 8, at 7 p.m. in the ISU Pond Student Union Building Wood River Room.

The panel is organized by Mujeres Unidas de Idaho, the Idaho Women’s Commission and the City of Pocatello Human Relations Advisory Committee.

“We are hoping the discussion will lead us to a better understanding of one another and give us insight to overcoming cultural barriers,” said Farhana Hibbert, moderator of the panel. “We have a lot to learn from the stories of these women and from the experiences they have had in life.”

Hibbert serves as chair of the Human Relations Advisory Committee and is a member or Mujeres Unidas de Idaho and the Idaho Women’s Commission. She is the publisher of  IDAHO Unido, the only certified minority-owned, woman owned- newspaper in the state. Hibbert is the regional director for U.S. Sen. Mike Crapo.

Students from Highland High School will be videotaping the discussion, which will air on local community access channels.

Admission to the event is free and refreshments will be served.

For more information, contact Hibbert at (208) 234-7383 or (208) 221-6571.
