February 12, 2007
Idaho State University’s Psychology Graduate Student Association will hold its Viva La Poky fundraiser from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Bannock Youth Foundation Family Resource Center, 403 N. Hayes, Pocatello.
The event is open to the public.
For a fee, participants will be able to play games to win prizes and enter a raffle. Games will include bingo and a Texas Hold ‘Em-style tournament. Bingo cards and poker chips will be sold at the door. Bingo cards will be $20 for a pack of 30 games. Prizes will be given to winners of each game. Buy-in for Texas Hold ‘Em is $25, and the top eight players will be entered into a raffle. Food will also be sold at the event.
Proceeds from Viva La Poky will benefit the Psychology Graduate Student Association (PGSA). PGSA is a student-run organization that is designed to facilitate graduate training at the masters and doctoral level in psychology at ISU. PGSA serves both formal and informal functions to facilitate a positive graduate experience at ISU.
Formally, PGSA appoints student representatives to various departmental committees. PGSA also serves as the students’ formal line of communication regarding departmental curricula and training.
Informally, PGSA notifies students of upcoming local, state, and national conferences and provides monetary reimbursement for conference attendees. The association also fosters student camaraderie throughout the academic year by organizing various student social activities. The PGSA serves both formal and informal functions to facilitate a positive graduate experience at the University.
