The New York Times on Sunday, April 15, spotlighted Idaho State University College of Pharmacy student Ron Wright’s one-game major-league baseball career.

The story was prominently featured on the front page of the SportsSunday section under the headline “The Short and Happy Career of Ron Wright.” It included photos of Wright at the College of Pharmacy, from which the husband and father of four hopes to graduate in two years.Wright

On April 14, 2002, Wright, who suffered from the effects of a previous back injury, was the designated hitter for the Seattle Mariners against the Texas Rangers in his major-league debut. Unfortunately, the rookie struck out, hit into a double play, then hit into a triple play. He never played in a major-league game again. “Maybe I should be bitter because of that one game,” Wright told reporter Lee Jenkins. “But I feel lucky.”
