ISU student wins Academy of Science logo contest
May 29, 2007
Students from eight Idaho institutions of higher learning vied for the chance to have their design become the new logo for the Idaho Academy of Science this spring, but it was Idaho State University mass communications student Jeff Wolfley who would be crowned the winner.
“Jeff’s entry was the clear favorite,” said Phil Anderson, executive director for the academy. “I think it was preferred because it is consistent with the academy’s being a multi-disciplinary organization that embraces all fields of science. This logo includes elements of both physical and biological sciences—engineering too.
“And it has a nice combination of colors. It looks good on our letterhead,” Anderson said.
Wolfley, a non-traditional student, donated the $200 scholarship awarded him from the academy to the Ad Club because they were in need of financial donations for upcoming events.
“This experience has re-enforced the fact that my years of experience in graphic design and advertising are still paying off for me,” Wolfley said.
