Anderson Center announces Black History Month Read-In

 The Janet C. Anderson Gender Resource Center at Idaho State University announces it will hold a Read-In in celebration of Black History Month. The Read-In will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 5 at the Bengal Café located in the ISU Pond Student Union Building. This event is free and open to the public.

Readers will share their favorite selections from works of non-fiction, fiction or poetry, written by professional African-American or African women writers. Anyone interested in reading a selection is invited to participate. Contact the Anderson Center at 282-2805 to sign up for a timeslot to read. Participants also will need to provide the title and author of the reading in advance along with an estimate of how many minutes their reading will require.

The Read-In has been endorsed by the International Reading Association. More than a million readers of all ethnic groups from 49 states, the West Indies, and African countries have participated. The goal is to make the celebration of African-American literacy a traditional part of Black History Month activities.
