Symphonic Band concert scheduled Oct. 12

The Idaho State University Symphonic Band will perform its first program of the new academic year at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, in Joseph C. and Cheryl H. Jensen Grand Concert Hall in the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center.

The Symphonic Band is directed by Patrick Brooks, D.M.A., ISU Director of Bands.

The band will present a varied program of standard and newer works for concert band including “Konigsmarsch,” by Richard Strauss; “Second Suite in F for Military Band,” by Gustav Holst; “October,” by Eric Whitacre; and “Old Home Days,” a suite of tunes by Charles Ives.

The Symphonic Band is comprised of 48 students from various degree programs throughout the university.

Admission is free for ISU students, $2 for precollege students, $3 for ISU faculty and staff, and $5 general admission. Children under 6 will not be admitted.
