Idaho State University TRiO will sponsor a children’s book drive from Dec. 1 to Jan. 15 on the ISU campus.

Donors may put books in designated drop-off boxes at the College of Education Building, Pond Student Union Building, Eli Oboler Library, Business Administration Building, Kegal Liberal Arts Building, Fine Arts Building, the TRiO office on the third floor of the Idaho Natural History Museum, as well as down-stairs in the museum building.

During January, TRiO participants will read the books to children in Head Start and elementary schools, and then donate the books to the program and schools or to the individual children.

TRiO is a conglomerate of three student programs: Education Talent Search, Upward Bound and Student Support Services.

The Educational Talent Search is a federally-funded program administered by ISU to help middle- and high-school students and adults enroll in college or vocational technical school and apply for financial aid.

Upward Bound is a federally-funded program administered by ISU. It is designed to enhance the skills and motivation necessary for success in education beyond high school for youth of low-income families who are potential first-generation college students. Student Support Services is a federally funded post-secondary education program designed to provide academic assistance and support to students who are disadvantaged.
