Idaho State University will offer a new session of adult reading, writing and math classes starting in January in Blackfoot. These classes are useful in improving skills for a new or better job, completing a GED, or helping children with their homework.

All students must be registered and pre-tested to be able to attend classes. Blackfoot class registration and pre-testing will take place Dec. 4–21, as well as Jan. 2–4.  The office will be closed the week of Dec. 25 through Dec. 28 for the holidays.

Pre-testing is valuable in identifying current academic skills for placement into appropriate level classes. The pre-test is also useful in identifying how close a person is to completing their GED. To schedule a pre-test, call 785-1848. Classes and pre-tests are located at the ISU Blackfoot Outreach, 1443 Parkway, Suite 3, next to the Blackfoot Medical Clinic in the Albertson’s Plaza.

The ISU Blackfoot Outreach Office offers additional services to assist you. Job Education Training (JET) classes in computers and customer service are available for individuals who have a child under age 18. The Center for New Directions has a career and personal counselor available on a regular basis to assist individuals with career and college goals. English as a second language courses are available Mondays and Wednesdays at the Outreach Office. A generous donation from the Blackfoot Piecemakers Quilt Club has made it possible to offer scholarships for area students who wish to complete their GED.

For more information on any of the ISU Blackfoot Outreach services, call 785-1848.
