‘Gender and Catholicism’ to be topic for Sept. 28 Anderson Center speaker

Idaho State University's Janet C. Anderson Gender Resource Center will host guest speaker Jennifer Seaich, who will lecture on "Gender and Catholicism" from 12 to 1 p.m. on Sept. 28, in the ISU Pond Student Union Building Heritage Room.

Seaich, director of the ISU Catholic Student Association, will speak on how it is possible and "worth it" to be a Catholic feminist. She will address some historical background and discuss the status of women in the church today. Topics will include family and work issues, as well as the question of women's ordination.

Seaich graduated with a Master of Divinity degree from Yale Divinity School in May. Her Bachelor of Arts degree is in English and liberal/religious studies from the University of Montana.

Her talk is the second in a series of five talks this semester focusing on gender and religion. Talks are scheduled on alternating Thursdays through Nov. 9. They are free and attendees are encouraged to bring their lunches.
