Annual Kasiska Research Day will focus on prevention

MERIDIAN - “Prevention: The Role of the Health Professional” is the theme of the Idaho State University Kasiska Division of Health Sciences annual Research Day. The event is Friday, April 19, 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., in Meridian and Pocatello.
Health care providers, faculty, students and the public are invited to Research Day activities, which will feature presentations across multiple health care professions.
The event is free and registration is from 7:30-7:45a.m. Activities will be held at the Sam and Aline Skaggs Health Science Center at ISU-Meridian, 1311 E. Central Drive and in the ISU Pocatello Pond Student Union, 921 South 8th Avenue. Podium sessions will be broadcast simultaneously using distance-learning technology.
This year's keynote speaker is Dr. Betty Bekemeier, professor and director of the Northwest Center for Public Health Practice at the University of Washington. Bekemeier is a leader in public health systems research, studying the practices of state and local health departments in an effort to improve effectiveness and reduce health disparities. Her keynote address will be from 8-9:15a.m. and will ordinate from Pocatello.
From 9:30-10:15am, two presentations will be given about practice-based research and clinical research methodology.
