ISU-Meridian sponsors free health screening April 19, including tests for sexually transmitted diseases and traumatic brain injury
April 3, 2018
BOISE—Screenings for HIV, hepatitis C, alcohol use and depression are among free services offered at a comprehensive community health screening Thursday, April 19, 4-7 p.m., at Whittier Elementary School, 301 N. 29th St.
“April is the perfect time to take inventory of your health and wellness needs before the busy months of summer,” said Glenda Carr, screening organizer and Idaho State University-Meridian clinical assistant pharmacy professor. She notes that many national organizations use April as the month to raise awareness about the dangers of alcohol overuse, brain injury and sexually transmitted diseases.
The screening is sponsored by ISU-Meridian in partnership with Ada County, Central District Health, the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, the Idaho Foodbank and Hispanic Cultural Center of Idaho.
Basic physical and dental exams, screenings for traumatic brain injury and flu shots while supplies last included in the full screening which takes about 90 minutes. Participants in immediate need are given appointments at low-cost or free Treasure Valley clinics for additional care. The Idaho Foodbank will provide free boxes of food for participants.
