AVP Katsilometes serves as a keynote speaker at national branch campus conference
April 22, 2014
Idaho State University-Meridian Associate Vice President Bessie Katsilometes was keynote speaker at the NABCA Annual Conference, April 9-12, in Newport Beach, Calif.
Her presentation titled Passion for the Possible: A Journey of Choice focused on leadership within branch campuses and the path that leaders take.
NABCA—the National Association of Branch Campus Administrators—invited Katsilometes to speak after the national website, thebestcolleges.org, selected ISU-Meridian as one of the country’s top 10 branch campuses in 2013. The website cited ISU-Meridian’s annual Health Science Experience Night, free Community Health Screenings for uninsured adults, and affiliation with The CORE, an economic development corridor which focuses on health and health-related research. ISU-Meridian is the educational anchor of The CORE.
“Although institutions in the nation vary widely in the size and scope of extension centers and branch campuses, these entities help expand access to higher education and provide economic development support for communities,” said Katsilometes.
Branch campuses also play an increasingly vital role in supporting the main campus in delivering quality education to students, she added.
