Meridian faculty and staff “step up” in Boise fitness challenge
December 17, 2013
Idaho State University-Meridian employees have taken second place in their division in Boise’s Walk 150 Business Challenge to commemorate Boise’s 150th anniversary and encourage a healthy lifestyle.
From June through November, the Meridian team logged 3,357 miles by foot—14 times the distance from ISU-Meridian to the main campus in Pocatello.
Organizers say 21 of ISU-Meridian’s 96 employees participated in the challenge, mapping out mile and half-mile routes around campus. They walked on lunch hours, after work and on weekends, many bringing their families to participate.
The Meridian team placed second in the level 3 division which includes businesses with 51 to 150 employees. Boise Mayor Dave Bieter presented ISU-Meridian with a framed certificate at an awards ceremony Dec. 9 at the Boise Depot.
