Run for the Health of It event set for Sept. 17
August 9, 2011
Lace up your shoes and run through downtown Meridian in the first annual Run for the Health of It 5k sponsored by Idaho State University-Meridian’s College of Pharmacy. The event begins at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 17, at the
ISU-Meridian Health Science Center, 1311 E. Central Drive, located on the north side of I-84 between Locust Grove and Meridian roads.
The walk/run cost is $28 through Aug. 31 and $34 through race day. The first 50 ISU students, faculty and staff to register online at www.bluecirclesports.com will receive a $4 discount by using the code ISUMERIDIAN.
Proceeds from the walk/run fundraiser will support the community outreach and education efforts of ISU-Meridian student pharmacists. “Students frequently volunteer their time to provide health and medication information, do cholesterol and diabetes screens, and administer various vaccinations for members of the Treasure Valley community,” said student pharmacist Christie Caplinger. “All of these efforts require the purchase of supplies and equipment.”
A portion of the proceeds also will help send a 3-year-old Nampa girl battling leukemia to Disney World through the Idaho chapter of the Make a Wish Foundation.
