ISU-Boise to offer Ph.D. program in Counselor Education and Counseling in the Treasure Valley
January 2, 2008
Boise – Idaho State University-Boise will offer the doctorate in Counselor Education and Counseling in fall 2008.
The degree, which is currently offered at ISU's main campus in Pocatello, prepares graduates to teach counseling at the university level and supervise counselor education programs in various settings, according to Stephen Feit, Ed.D., the chair of ISU's Department of Counseling.
ISU-Boise will admit two doctoral students each fall, and the program will require a minimum of three years of full-time study. Doctoral students also will supervise, teach and mentor students enrolled in ISU-Boise's Master of Counseling program.
Prerequisites for the doctorate include a master's degree in counseling, preferably from a program accreditied by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) and an Idaho counseling license (LPC or LCPC).
