September 5, 2007
Boise- Interested in becoming a pharmacist, paramedic or physician assistant? A clinical lab scientist, nurse or mental health counselor?
Find out about these programs and more than a dozen others at the second annual “Health Professions Experience Night” hosted by Idaho State University, Oct. 9, 5:30-8 p.m. The event will be at the site of ISU’s new health sciences education building in Meridian, 1303 E. Central Drive (on the north side of I-84 between Meridian and Locust Grove roads).
Students will have the opportunity to explore careers in the health professions and sciences, visit with professors and clinical faculty, and enter to win one of two $500 scholarships awarded that night.
The event will include demonstrations in human patient simulation with life-like mannequins from ISU-Boise’s state-of-the-art simulation laboratory. Through simulation, students are able to practice medical procedures in a controlled environment before performing them in the real world. St. Alphonsus’ Life Flight helicopter also will be on display.
“ISU is the state’s leader in health-professions education, and we’re delighted to host this event for high school and transfer students, parents, educators, and other interested community partners in the Treasure Valley,” said Bessie Katsilometes, dean of academic programs in Boise.
