ISU Boise Center Graduate Count Up 74%

Boise – The Idaho State University Boise Center will graduate 141 students this year, compared to 81 in 2004, for a 74% increase. These graduates will be honored during a celebration, 4 -5:30 p.m. Friday, May 6, at The Grove Hotel, 245 S. Capitol Blvd., Boise.

"ISU Boise Center graduates are highly regarded by health care employers," said Dr. Robin Dodson, chief academic officer. "In addition, our graduates are helping meet the health profession workforce shortage facing the Treasure Valley, and Idaho."

Introducing the graduates will be Dr. John Kijinski, dean, College of Arts and Sciences; Dr. Delane Kritsky, associate dean, Kasiska College of Health Professions; Dr. Barb Mason, vice chair, College of Pharmacy; and Dr. Ranaye Marsh, dean, College of Technology. The guest speaker will be Steve Millard, president of the Idaho Hospital Association.

The ISU Boise Center was created in 1988 in response to the unique educational needs of working professionals in the Treasure Valley, and has experienced tremendous growth.

The Boise Center enrolls 330 students in upper division and graduate programs in fast track nursing, clinical laboratory science, paramedic, mental health, marriage and family counseling, athletic administration, public health, speech-language pathology, geology, and dietetics. The College of Pharmacy operates a program in Boise, and grant-funded programs such as the Institute of Emergency Management, Institute of Rural Health, HIV Training, and the Center for Disabilities Evaluation are housed at the ISU Boise Center.

Located at 12301 W. Explorer Drive, the Boise Center covers more than 29,000 square feet that house classrooms, five distance-learning rooms, a computer lab, clinical lab science, and therapy clinics for speech-language pathology and counseling.
