Spots Still Available For First Responders

Boise– The Idaho Bureau of Homeland Security and Idaho State University’s Institute of Emergency Management is delivering a real-world training experience to as many as 600 Idaho first responders during Sept. – Nov. 2004.

"There are still a few spots available for first responders to get excellent training during this series," said Lenn Moorhead-Rosenberg, program coordinator for the Institute of Emergency Management.

Operation ROAD TRIP (Readiness Operations and Defense to Train Rural Idaho in Preparedness) will use the 60-room Lakeside Inn as the base of operations for five weeks of training. The training is for personnel from law enforcement, fire, EMS, urban search and rescue, HazMat, and emergency management public information officers.

The Lakeside Inn in Sandpoint is owned by the Idaho Transportation Department and is slated to be demolished to make way for a highway project. Before the Inn is demolished, ISU’s Institute of Emergency Management was asked to coordinate a five week multi-agency, multi-jurisdictional project to help first responders prepare and train for a Chemical Biological Radioactive Nuclear Explosive (CBRNE) mass-casualty incident. Each training track is one week long.
