ISU Boise Center To Honor Graduates May 6

Boise – The Idaho State University Boise Center will graduate 81 students this year, compared to 55 in 2003. These graduates will be honored during a graduation celebration 3:30-5 p.m. Thursday, May 6, at Hillcrest Country Club.

"We’re honored to have assisted these students in reaching their educational goals," said Dr. Robin Dodson, chief academic officer. "They deserve acknowledgement for the commitment they made to succeed in their chosen fields."

Introducing the graduates will be Dr. James R. "Dick" Pratt, dean, College of Arts and Sciences; Dr. Michael Lester, chair, sports science and physical education; Dr. Linda Hatzenbuehler, dean, Kasiska College of Health Professions; Dr. Joseph Steiner, dean, College of Pharmacy; and Dr. Ranaye Marsh, dean, College of Technology.

The ISU Boise Center was created in 1988 in response to the unique educational needs of working professionals in the Treasure Valley. The Boise Center enrolls about 240 students in upper division and graduate programs in fast track nursing, clinical laboratory science, paramedic, mental health, marriage and family counseling, athletic administration, public health, speech-language pathology, geology, and dietetics.

The College of Pharmacy operates a program in Boise for fourth-year students. Grant-funded programs such as the Institute of Emergency Management-Homeland Security, Institute of Rural Health, HIV Training, and the Center for Disabilities Evaluation are housed at the ISU Boise Center.

Located at 12301 W. Explorer Drive, the center covers more than 29,000 square feet that house classrooms, five distance-learning rooms, a computer lab, clinical lab science, and therapy clinics for speech-language pathology and counseling. Currently, 25 faculty, 18 non-teaching research faculty, and 17 staff members work at the Boise Center.
