Idaho State University Boise Center Enrollment Jumps 27%

Boise - The Idaho State University Boise Center enrollment continues to increase, with an official enrollment of 211 students for Spring 2004.

"This is the highest spring enrollment in the history of the Boise Center," said Robin Dodson, chief academic officer. "Our growth can be attributed to increased program offerings and ISU's commitment to deliver health profession training to the Treasure Valley."

Enrollment of new students increased by 45, up 27.1 percent over last spring. "Many of our programs have doubled in size from last year, including counseling, paramedic, speech-language pathology, clinical laboratory science, and nursing," said Dodson.

"Our speech pathology clinic increased from 10 to 50 clients in one semester," he said. "This a win-win situation. Our students gain clinical experience, and clients get treatment. Many clients are referred by hospitals and other clinics and might not otherwise get treatment."

The Boise Center facility continues to expand as well. "We've added about 11,000 square feet this year and are involved in our third remodel in less than two years," said Dodson.

The ISU Boise Center offers the associate of science in paramedic; the bachelor of science in speech-language pathology, nursing fast track, and clinical laboratory science; master's programs in nursing, speech-language pathology, clinical laboratory science, counseling in mental health and marriage and family, geology, physical education, athletic administration, public health, dietetic internship, and fourth-year pharmacy rotations.
