Physical and Occupational Therapy Clinic at ISU-Meridian
Residents and students in the Treasure Valley are going to have expanded access to Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy services, thanks to Idaho State University students and their clinical professors.
The Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Clinic at ISU's Meridian campus will provide high-quality, evidence-based, individualized therapy services to ISU employees, students, and the local community. The clinical therapists will utilize a wide variety of therapy evaluation and treatment services.
Physical therapy service treatments include the use of manual therapy, dry needling, and targeted exercise prescription. In the near future, the clinic will begin providing occupational therapy services.
“The clinic is operated by licensed physical and occupational therapists who serve both as faculty members within the university programs and as treating clinicians,” said Michael Clarke, assistant professor and director of the new clinic. “We also will have full-time community clinical therapists who have a passion for providing high-level patient care, while also having a similar passion for mentoring students within the clinic setting.”
By allowing students early and continuous exposure in the clinic setting throughout the course of their program, Idaho State is able to provide a more enriched learning experience. This helps set students up for success and early advancement, which is beneficial to Idahoans, as many graduate students stay in the state.
“It is difficult to explain how excited we are about this new clinic and the opportunity to continue to provide therapy services to the Treasure Valley,” Clarke said. “This is a mutually beneficial process for the patients we serve, the students we instruct, and the community and state that we love.
