Her CPI internship has focused on behavioral neuroscience research on spinal cord injuries. Working closely with Department of Psychology Chair, Michele Brumley, Kollmeyer has been able to conduct research on the effects of spinal cord injuries to better understand neural and behavioral plasticity and relations between neural development and musculoskeletal development.

Last month, Kollmeyer presented data from her project at the 50th Annual Meeting for the International Society for Developmental Psychobiology, which was held in Washington DC. Leah presented her own poster and was a co-author on a second poster at the meeting.

"It is pretty incredible that an undergraduate is present at an international conference," Brumley said. "Leah is a very hard worker, very reliable, and she is preparing herself well for being competitive for medical or graduate school."

Kollymeyer will graduate this month and will move to the Central Valley area of California to be closer to family. She intends to take a year off and is planning to apply to either a doctoral psychology programs or medical school.
