POCATELLO – The Idaho Museum of Natural History at Idaho State University will host the Prehistoric Tree Trimmings Family Fun Day Dec. 17 from 9 a.m. to noon in the museum’s Discovery Room.

Participants will decorate prehistoric beasts to use for holiday ornaments.

Family Fun Day is a one Saturday a month and features hands-on science activities related to the museum’s gallery or the season. To visit the gallery, attendees must pay admission.

“We are excited to serve families across Idaho and bring awareness to what the museum has to offer,” said Amber Tews, collections manager of the Idaho Museum of Natural History.

“The ornaments will be salt-dough made by education specialist Becky Hansis-O'Neill and her CPI students,” Tews said. “We have made salt-dough ornaments in the past and they have been mammoth, camel, I think a saber-tooth cat. The ornaments can then be colored with markers, paint, glitter or whatever the child can imagine.”
