POCATELLO – Country star Suzy Bogguss, who will perform at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at Idaho State University, said she’s excited about returning to Pocatello to share songs from her new album and older favorites.

Bogguss will perform at the Joseph C. and Cheryl H. Jensen Grand Concert Hall in the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center as part of ISU’s 2016-17 ‘Season of Note’ concert series.

“I performed in Pocatello with Allen Jackson at the Holt Arena back in the 90’s and the Stephens Center has been on my list of places to visit,” Bogguss said. “It’s a very beautiful theatre.”

Bogguss, originally from Illinois, graduated from Illinois State University in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in art. She traveled for the next five years, touring the country in a camper truck before she was “discovered.”

“I worked in West Yellowstone for a time. It’ll be nice to see some old friends out this way again,” Bogguss said.

Bogguss, a Grammy award-winning and platinum-selling artist, is one of country music’s most pristine and evocative vocalists. With the release in 1989 of “Somewhere Between,” Bogguss quickly became one of the key artists that defined those golden days of 1990s country. She scored a string of top-10 singles with country radio staples like “Outbound Plane,” “Drive South,” “Hey Cinderella,” “Letting Go” and “Aces.”

To celebrate the anniversary of “Aces” her third studio album, Bogguss re-recorded the 10-songs for a project titled “Aces Redux.” The re-worked songs reflect the singer’s growth as a performer.

“I wanted to do an album of arrangements more representative of what the songs are like at the shows,” said Bogguss. “It’s been fun reconnecting with the songs in a new modern way with a more stripped down acoustic feeling to the album.”
