Clinical Duties

The fellow should expect:

  • Involvement in the care of NCAA-D1 athletes in the ISU athletic programs as well as local high school athletes and teams
  • Procedurally-rich training in ultrasound-guided musculoskeletal procedures and diagnostic ultrasounds
  • Advanced training with an interdisciplinary team approach in primary care sports medicine, orthopedic surgery sports medicine, foot and ankle orthopedics, hand and wrist orthopedics, physical therapy, athletic training, sports dietetics, sports performance, and sports psychology
  • Opportunities to provide care for outdoor and wilderness events at ski resorts and adventure-based sports and recreation events
  • Teaching experience in supervising residents in sports medicine clinics

Research Training 

  • Fellows are encouraged to participate in research through the various collaborating academic departments involved with the fellowship (sports medicine/family medicine, physical therapy, athletic training, exercise physiology, sports psychology, or sports dietetics)
  • Fellows will be required to complete scholarly activity and present at a local, regional, or national meeting
