First-Gen Initiative
Access & Opportunity Programs is collaborating with ISU staff and faculty members, as well as the College of Southern Idaho to host campus-wide events to celebrate first-generation college students.
Our first-gen committee is also partnering with local organizations to help them create community events to raise awareness about first-generation students
A typical first-gen celebration includes hosting a presentation or discussion featuring anotable first-generation speaker. The goal is to help attendees understand first-gen experiences and connect them to career and education options.
To celebrate first-generation college students, we encourage you to submit and share your first-generation college student story to inspire other students to finish their college journey.
Are you having a hard time understanding what a first-generation student is? Use this page to understand students who are the first in their family to attend or complete college.
Idaho State University has a week long celebration to commemorate and raise awareness about first-generation students.
Thank you to our staff and faculty at ISU and CSI for helping spread and contribute to the First-Gen Intiative.
