Superheros show up with granola bars!
What does it take to be someone’s superhero? Sometimes, just a box of granola bars! Our Dean of Students office manages Benny’s Pantry--a “store” where students may shop for free twice a month just by swiping their Bengal ID card. To learn more, and to see a list of current Benny’s Pantry needs.
Some students are attempting college on an extremely limited budget. In fact, recent surveys indicated that 45% of students reported facing food insecurity, but it is difficult to study on an empty stomach or make time for homework if every non-class hour is spent trying to make enough money just to obtain necessities. Every item donated to Benny’s Pantry helps us shatter that barrier to student persistence. We all know that this is a significant problem for many of our ISU students, and doing something about it can be as easy as adding a few items for the Pantry to your shopping list.
We’re going to start including a list of current Pantry needs to our monthly communications, but we also want to make dropping off your donations as easy as possible. Our Student Care & Assistance Coordinator is happy to meet you for deliveries at the Pond Student Union, Pocatello campus, or you can contact her to make alternate arrangements (email: pantry@isu.edu, phone number: 208-282-2315).
